Alpha is a Hindi action thriller. It is also the seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe. Shiv Rawail sat in the director’s chair for this one. Soumil Shukla and Shridhar Raghavan worked on the screenplay. Ishita Moitra wrote the dialogues. Uday Chopra came up with the story. The film was supposed to come out during Christmas 2025, but delays happened and it got pushed to 3 July 2026. Aditya Chopra produced it under Yash Raj Films. Akshaye Widhani joined him as co-producer. The budget is big, which is no surprise when you look at the action, the locations, and the star cast. The film has a U/A 16+ rating.
This is Shiv Rawail’s first movie as a director. Before this, he directed the Netflix show The Railway Men and people noticed him. That took some nerve. The YRF Spy Universe already has heavy hitters like Pathaan, Tiger, and War. Rawail could have gone the safe route. But he did not. He went ahead and made India’s first female-led spy film, and he dialled up the action big time.

This Hindi action thriller hits theatres on 3 July 2026. Shiv Rawail directs this part of the YRF Spy Universe. The story follows a deadly assassin called Sita. She teams up with her sister, whom she never knew existed, to destroy the man who made her and the secret army he runs. Yash Raj Films is behind the production. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari are the leads. People were excited to see two women leading a spy film in this universe for the first time. The first half shows how Sita grew up — harsh, lonely, violent. Then things fall apart when she finds out she has a sister and the man who raised her has been lying all along.

Alpha Movie Cast and Crew
The film is about a girl who was made into a weapon. Sita was brought up by Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat, a rogue officer who runs a hidden military program. She believes she has no past, just orders. Then she learns she has a sister named Durga. Her whole life turns out to be a lie. What begins as a one-woman revenge plan slowly becomes a partnership, as the two sisters team up to take down the man who created them.
Alia Bhatt plays Sita. She is on screen almost the entire time. Sharvari plays Durga, the sister Sita never knew. Anil Kapoor is Colonel Vikrant Kaul, the head of R&AW. Bobby Deol is the villain — Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat, the one who raised Sita. Dia Mirza appears in a special role as Janaki Kaul, the mother. Dibyendu Bhattacharya plays Dr. John Varghese. Hrithik Roshan makes an extended cameo as Kabir Dhaliwal, which ties this film into the rest of the spy universe. The rest of the cast plays soldiers, spies, and people caught in between.
Behind the scenes, Shiv Rawail directed. Rubais was the cinematographer. Aarif Sheikh edited the film. The songs are by Rohansh & Abeer. The lyrics are by Kumaar, Anvitaa Dutt, Kausar Munir, and the composers themselves. Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara did the background score. Craig Macrae and Sunil Rodrigues designed the action. A huge amount of effort went into making the fights look real and hard-hitting. Alia and Sharvari trained for months and did most of their stunts themselves.

Alpha Movie Storyline and Plot
Sita did not ask for a sister. She was just trying to stay alive as the killing machine her maker wanted her to be. Then everything went wrong. The first half throws you into her world — the cruel training, the loneliness, the missions she runs without a second thought. You see her fight, follow orders, and lock away every feeling. Then she finds out the truth about her family, and that is when the real chaos begins.

What sets Alpha apart is that one hero is not saving the day. It is two women who were ripped apart as kids and now must learn to trust each other or die. The spy world turns into a trap — backstabbing, hidden programs, and an enemy who knows what they will do before they do it. The second half picks up speed. Traps close in. Plans break apart. There are times when you genuinely worry they will not make it.
The film does not hand them easy escapes. They get hurt. They keep going. The tension keeps climbing. The climax lands with force, and it stays fast and loud instead of slowing down into a talky drama. By the end, you know the only reason these two are still standing is that they stood together — and even that was a close call.
Alpha Movie Budget
The team has not shared an official figure. Still, the film looks expensive, the way YRF films usually do. The foreign locations, the action set pieces, the huge cast — all of it says serious money. The music launch, the promos, the wide release across theatres — none of it looks cut short. People guess the budget is on the higher side, and it shows. They did not hold back.
